Kennedy worked with Gucci throughout 2019 to conceptualise and execute a series of exclusive events launching the collection, which took place in New York, Shanghai and Seoul.
New York’s venue – the iconic Double Club, whose richly textured interior still echoes 1976, the year in which it was opened – was accessed through a hidden door, opening up into an intersection of 70s New York nightlife and old Hollywood glamour. Guests included the contemporary faces of the campaign together with creative director Alessandro Michele. Musicians Zoë Bleu, Jeffertitti Moon and Dani Miller – lead singer of the pink band Surfbort, who also appears in the advertising campaign – performed a DJ set and recorded the evening in an Instagram takeover on the @guccibeauty account.
In Shanghai, guests were received at the Paramount Theatre, an early 20th-century Art Deco dancehall which was once the largest ballroom in Shanghai.
In Seoul, a three-day event was held at the Lotte Duty Free Star Lounge, which was transformed into a decadent fuchsia pink boudoir. Dani Miller, models Ellia Sophia Coggins and Mae Lapres and South Korean singer, songwriter and actress Son Na-Eun of girl group Apink attended, among others.
Kennedy creatively directed, project managed, designed and produced each event, discovering and securing venues, programming and overseeing the food and beverage offering for each iteration.
