LORO PIANA, COMPANION SPECIES - NEW YORK

For the opening of Loro Piana’s store in New York’s Meatpacking District, esteemed American artist Marie Watt was commissioned to create three sculptures rooted in the cultural significance of blankets.

Kennedy developed a physical installation to contextualise the three artworks – named Companion Species: Acknowledgement, Blanket Stories and Generations – within the store, allowing them to be experienced by both visiting customers and passers-by at street level. Kennedy also produced a full digital campaign composed of three hero films, which was deployed across Instagram and Vogue, to support the exhibition.

The films reflected the artist’s work and inspiration, and featured celebrities such as Suki Waterhouse, Dakota Fanning and Luke Evans, who each donated a blanket for the artworks, and shared their personal, often intimate, stories around it. The project coincided with Loro Piana’s launch of a charity initiative for Save The Children in North America.
